The monochrome collection was a celebration of not only life and love - the show was the 14th anniversary of 9/11 - but also of Riccardo Tisci's tenth year at the fashion house. Amongst the Victoriana, gothic references and miles of lace that Givenchy is now synonymous for, were pieces that any avid fashion fans would instantly recognise from past Ready-To-Wear and Haute Couture collections: they embellishes trophy jacket, feather peplum blazers and beautiful embroidered evening dresses, to name but a few.
On the runway, Givenchy veterans Mariacarla Boscono, Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls and Candice Swanepoel took centre stage, with the latter taking a tiny tumble. Off the runway, celebrities were in abundance. Actors Julia Roberts, Margot Robbie, Amanda Seyfried rubbed shoulders with father/daughter duo Liv and Steve Tyler. Musicians Ciara, Jennifer Hudson and Kanye West were sat with reality TV royalty Kim Kardashian-West. Models Lara Stone, Gemma Ward and Irina Shayk also attended the show. Quite a turnout!
Amongst the celebrities were 800-strong members of the public. What I'd have given for one of those tickets! Damn my living in England! I could definitely adjust to life as a New Yorker.
