Givenchy to show in New York, and you can go!

For it's Spring/Summer 2016 show, Givenchy will move its slot at Paris Fashion Week to New York. The show is scheduled for September 11th, a difficult day for the city, but the brand's creative director Riccardo Tisci has stated that "the show is going to be a celebration of family and love".

So, why the move to New York? Well, it's actually quite a strategic move: Givenchy is set to open it's first New York store on Madison Avenue in almost decade. Everyone loves a bit of free local PR. Although Givenchy has stores in Miami and Las Vegas, this is the first of several planned store openings across America. (Don't worry Europe; Milan, Rome and London are also set to have brand new stores.)

Givenchy's chairman and CEO, Philippe Fortunato, added that it feels like 'history is repeating itself', as Hubert de Givenchy, the founder of the brand, also showed in the US early in his career, dressing some of America's biggest stars, such as Audrey Hepburn.

Now as the title of this post suggests, the move to New York isn't the only difference with this Givenchy show. For the first time in the brand's history, 800 tickets are up for grabs! Do you fancy sitting across the runway from Kim Kardashian, Ciara, Kanye West, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Seyfried and Katy Perry - all previous attendees? Well listen up.

Givenchy has stated that it will allocate tickets to applicants through a website set up with Nycgo.com, the City's marketing office, on a first-come, first-served basis. The website URL is yet to be revealed, so keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground on this!

Givenchy has had many great moments under Tisci's reign, see also these posts (here and here) for some previous highlights, on and off the runway.
