For the opening of the festival, and the Grace Kelly biopic premiere, Blake stuck with a brand she has a longstanding relationship with: Gucci. She is the face of their Gucci Premiere fragrance and often sports their looks on the red carpet. The dress was a two-toned pleated dress with cut out detailing on the top and a huge, thigh high split. I think the deep red colour was a perfect choice for her skin tone and hair colour.
For day two of the festival, Blake made a television appearance on the French talk show 'Le Grand Journal'. For the appearance, she worse a Giambattista Valli Couture Spring/Summer 2014 mini-dress which was heavily embellished with a lilac and pink floral design. She paired the look with nude, strappy heels and an aqua Chanel clutch.
The Chanel theme continued that evening as the television star stunned in a Chanel Haute Couture piece from the Spring/Summer 2014 runway. The whole look seemed somewhat nautical/ethereal, as the sequins of the dress looked like tiny fish scales and her cascading hair totally gave off a mermaid vibe.
For the third premiere she attended, Blake went back to Gucci and knocked it out of the park in a monochrome dress worthy of any actress from the 'Golden Age' of cinema. Her jewellery, nails and lips provided an injection of colour, and her husband Ryan Reynolds looked great too - also in Gucci. This has probably been my favourite look of hers to date.
I hope I'll be adding to this post as the festival continues. Until now, Blake has never really been on my radar as a fashion icon, but she has certainly grabbed my attention of late. Keep up the good work Lively.
Whilst on the topic of Cannes, I have to say that Nicole Kidman's look for the premiere of her latest film Grace of Monaco, was absolutely breathtaking. Dressed in sapphire blue Armani Privé, the actress looked elegant and regal, as if she were Grace Kelly herself.
