Yesterday saw the close of Paris Fashion Week and the end of another season of collections. I have to say, Marc Jacobs left the best for last at Louis Vuitton. The girls looked liked high-paid escorts leaving a French hotel. The set had 4 working lifts which brought the girls down to the runway complete with doorman. Amazing in itself but then the clothes took over.
Jacobs stated that the fetish idea came from "a conversation with LVMH's Bernard Arnault about women's "inexplicable" obsession with bags. And that got us started thinking about passions, and any of the disciplines that require effort and work and commitment." The silhouettes at Vuitton were similar to those at Marc Jacobs although at Vuitton, Marc added waist cinching belts in shiny cordovan, creating an altogether sexy look. The added 'kink' to the collection came in the form of rubber dominatrix boots, see-through flasher macs, and lace-up boots that showed a bare expanse of Kate Moss' thighs below retro briefs.
Perhaps the biggest surprise at the show was the return of the most super of supermodels: Kate Moss. Kate who's last runway appearance was at the Burberry Prorsum show for the Spring/Summer 2004 collection, shocked the audience and fashion fanatics worldwide. Kate was joined by other supermodels from the past including Naomi Campbell, Carolyn Murphy and Amber Valletta. An amazing end to the season.
