Mexico, July '15.

Sorry... I know I've not posted for several weeks. Actually, I'm not that sorry: I've been enjoying myself in Mexico!

I've never done a holiday post before, so bear with me. I guess I just begin with what I enjoyed?

1. The Resort

My husband David and I booked this trip months ago, so by the time we landed in Mexico, we'd completely forgotten what the resort looked like. It's safe to say we weren't disappointed by the Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa.

As we pulled up, we were greeted by a flaming reserve and traditional Mexican straw buildings which were absolutely stunning. The pool & spa areas were also beautiful beyond words - I could have stayed there for the entire 10 days. I literally felt like Kim Kardashian & Kanye West... I mean they have previously stayed just down the road from our resort!

2. Getting Fit Not Fat

I've cracked it. I simply have to be abroad to go to the gym: I managed a gruelling 6 gym sessions whilst I was away.

Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed myself! The gym was nearly always empty and all the equipment was relatively new. It was also dreamy escaping the Mexican heat for an hour on uninterrupted air-con.

3. The Food

Now normally with all inclusive holidays, you're sick of the same food by day 3. This was different. The Grand Palladium had eight restaurants, each specialising in a different cuisine. Our personal favourite was the Ribs 'n' More restaurant where the meat served was out of this world.

If you do visit Mexico, I can also recommend the SushiClub in Playa del Carmen. The cocktails, food and atmosphere were exceptional - just don't order too much: the portions are ridiculously large!

4. Leaving My Comfort Zone

Anyone who knows me, knows that deep water is my biggest fear. David however was adamant that we had to swim with whale sharks whilst we were in Mexico. So of course, we did.

Just before 6am we left our hotel, bound for Cancun just over an hour away. Once we arrived at our destination, we all had a bite to eat and headed out into the ocean. It took almost an hour for us to find the whale sharks. As soon as I saw them, my nerves disappeared. They were the most gentle creatures I'd ever seen.

Despite being longer than 2 double decker buses, I wasn't scared at all. My theory was, nothing would attack us whilst we were near such large creatures. This trip isn't for the faint hearted though, I'd say two thirds of out group ended up vomiting from inhaling too much sea water and very choppy seas.

5. Thank God I took...

My new Adidas Stan Smith trainers. The resort was so large that there was a lot of walking involved, so having a pair of comfortable trainers with me was a God send. I've been lusting after a pair of Stan Smiths for months, but wasn't sure about the bright green heel. Luckily for me, they've just launched a monochrome version! I got my pair from Offspring in Selfridges, but Office have the exact same pair.

Both David and I agreed that Mexico is somewhere we'd love to return to. However, there are still so many other places we want to see. Perhaps it'll be a decade before we return to this amazing country, but however long it takes, way we've made some amazing memories.
